Call for Papers on Internal Audit and Corporate Governance

The 14th European Academic Conference on 6, 7 and 8 April 2016 in Rotterdam

On behalf of the Conference Board, this year’s organising committee:

  • Dr. Arno Nuijten (Erasmus School of Accounting & Assurance)
  • Prof. Giuseppe D’Onza (University of Pisa)
  • Prof. Gerrit Sarens (Louvain School of Management)
is pleased to announce the arrangements for the 14th European Academic Conference on Internal Audit and Corporate Governance hosted by Erasmus School of Accounting & Assurance (Rotterdam, Netherlands).

The title of the conference is broad, and we welcome submissions from the full spectrum of internal auditing (IA) and corporate governance (CG). Given the emerging challenges in the field of internal audit and corporate governance we warmly invite contributions that shed light on:

  • Internal audit effectiveness at macro, meso and micro level
  • Changing nature of organisations and risks in network society and challenges to IA and corporate governance
  • Emerging Information Systems and the impact on the IA profession
  • Cultural differences associated with IA and CG effectiveness
  • Behavioural factors in IA and CG and requirements to skills and education of IA professionals

The conference will provide a forum to present debate and discuss current issues impacting these areas.

The first day will be dedicated to a forum to enable PhD students to present “works in progress” to experienced academics and practitioners. We encourage students at all stages of their PhD to submit. The main conference will be held on the second and third day.

The accommodation expense will be reimbursed to all the presenters in the PhD day and they may attend the main conference free of charge (travel expenses will have to be paid by the participants themselves).

Guidelines for submission

For PhD students:
Submitted papers should be classified according to the stage of development. These stages are:

  • Exploratory papers that address the work that is likely to be carried out in the future. These should be based on a significant literature review, and are likely to come from students who are about to or have recently completed their first year.
  • Development papers that are based on evidence and are at a stage where they may form a significant part of a thesis.
  • Full papers that form a substantial part of a thesis that is near to completion.

For all papers:
The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2016. For that date we accept both abstracts and full papers, though preference is given to full papers. Abstracts and full papers should be submitted as either a Microsoft Word or a rich text file (.rtf), as an e-mail attachment addressed to: Nuijten@ese.eur.nl with a copy to Dingemanse@ese.eur.nl

Notifications of acceptance will be sent out before 16 February 2016. Full versions of papers are required by no later than 31 March 2016.

We would encourage any potential author to contact either the conference chair or the PhD programme chair if they would like to discuss their ideas before submitting an abstract.
