The Value of Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs

The IIA Research Foundation (IIARF) has released a report on the state of Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs (QAIPs) around the world, based on a global survey. The Value of Quality Assurance and Improvement Programs: A Global Perspective incorporates responses from more than 1,000 survey respondents from 46 countries and offers feedback regarding:

- How widely QAIPs are being used.
- Benefits QAIPs offer the organization.
- Benefits QAIPs offer the internal audit activity.
- Barriers to building or sustaining a QAIP.

The report also offers insights from interviews conducted with 30 chief audit executives (CAEs) and eight other stakeholders from multiple countries.

These insights from both the surveys and the interviews conducted can be used to  identify key factors for successfully implementing a QAIP. Additionally, the report includes suggestions for conversation starters with audit committees and other stakeholders about the value of QAIPs and the internal audit function as a whole.
