RiskEvent 2026: Is your AI governance keeping up?
On 11 November, RiskEvent 2026 brings professionals in risk, security, audit and governance together at Spant! in Bussum for a full day dedicated to AIvolution: survAIval of the fittest. IIA Netherlands is a proud partner of this year's event, and there will be a familiar face from within our association on stage: Imran Nashir, a member of IIA Netherlands and a member of its Professional Practice Group Artificial Intelligence (PPGAI), will speak on AI governance. IIA members can benefit from the special member rate and the early-bird price until 1 October 2026.
AI is evolving. Is your governance keeping up?
Artificial intelligence is no longer something organisations are preparing for in the distant future. Algorithms are already supporting and making decisions, AI models are becoming increasingly autonomous, and regulation such as the EU AI Act requires organisations to demonstrate that adequate controls are in place.
This raises an important question for internal audit: as AI evolves, can governance keep pace?
That question is at the heart of Track 2: AI and Governance. The sessions explore the challenge of balancing innovation with control and look beyond having governance frameworks on paper. How can organisations demonstrate that AI is actually under control? And what does this mean for assurance?
From strategy and design to access management and assurance, the track focuses on turning AI governance into demonstrable control.
From governance to evidence
At 14:30, Imran Nashir, Senior Audit Manager at KPN, will take the stage for his session AI in Control: From Governance to Evidence.

Imran may already be a familiar face to IIA Netherlands members. In addition to his work at KPN, he is actively involved in the Professional Practice Group Artificial Intelligence (PPGAI), where internal auditors, data specialists and other professionals work together on the responsible and effective application of AI within the internal audit profession.
His session fits directly into one of the central challenges facing auditors today: understanding AI is important, but being able to assess and demonstrate whether it is properly governed is becoming increasingly important.
Four perspectives on AI
AI governance is one of four main perspectives explored during RiskEvent 2026. Other tracks examine AI and the Trust Revolution, the risks associated with malicious or uncontrolled use of AI, and the rise of Agentic AI and its impact on professionals and organisations.
Together, the tracks address the impact of AI on risk management, cybersecurity, audit, governance and digital trust. The programme combines keynotes and parallel sessions with practical cases and opportunities to exchange experiences with professionals from different disciplines.
RiskEvent is organised in collaboration with IIA Netherlands, NOREA and PvIB.
