On 10 September, IIA Netherlands and partner Protiviti bring young professionals together in Amsterdam to explore exactly that question during the Young Professionals Inspiration Day: Auditor of the Future.
The afternoon looks beyond technology alone. As the profession evolves, technical knowledge needs to go hand in hand with curiosity, professional judgement, communication and critical thinking. At the same time, auditors need to understand new technologies and learn how to use them effectively in their work.

The HUMAN Auditor: what technology cannot replace
What will organisations look for when recruiting auditors in 2030? And which human capabilities become more valuable as AI becomes increasingly capable?
Maria Brosi (Robert Half) explores the human side of the profession and discusses qualities such as curiosity, professional judgement, emotional intelligence, communication and critical thinking.
The central question is not simply what technology will be able to do, but what you will need to bring to the table as an auditor.
The TECHNOLOGICAL Auditor: experience AI in action
Understanding technology is one thing. Experiencing what it can do is another.
During an interactive session led by Rob Grondhuis (Protiviti), participants will work with IRIS, Protiviti's AI Crisis Simulation. You will step into a realistic crisis scenario and experience how teams respond under pressure, where vulnerabilities emerge and where opportunities for improvement can be found.
The aim is practical: take the lessons from the simulation back to your own audit work.

What happens when we bring the human and technological perspectives together?
Fleur Koster (ASML), Willem van Loon (Amsterdam UMC) and Ahmed Al-Hilli (bunq) share their perspectives on how Internal Audit is evolving, the challenges and opportunities ahead and the capabilities auditors will need in the coming years.
There will also be room for questions and discussion, giving young professionals the opportunity to contribute their own experiences and ideas about the future of the profession.
