| Considering the increasing weight of the supervisory board and the audit committee in corporate governance today, the ACI was keen to learn how views and everyday practice regarding audit committee effectiveness are developing. In this issue of the Audit Committee Quarterly two experienced supervisory board members, Marinus Minderhoud and Adri Baan, share with us their thoughts about their oversight roles and tasks, including the agenda for the near future. We also spoke with Marcel Niggebrugge, CFO of de Nederlandse Spoorwegen, and Arnout van der Veer, Chief Risk Officer of Reed Elsevier. As managers they are important counterparts of the audit committee, providing quantitative and qualitative material the audit committee needs in order to do its job well.
