To DevOps, or not to DevOps? About being relevant in times of continuous change
The concept of DevOps represents a way of working where the systems development and operations functions of an organization are highly integrated. DevOps is widely applied because of the significance of rapid digital transformation in most industries. DevOps enables faster adaptation and continuous improvement of systems compared to traditional IT change processes.
The integration of development and operations may appear to be – and sometimes is! –a segregation of duties conflict. As all (IT) auditors know, between these two functions change management controls should ensure that only reliable changes are introduced into the production environment. Traditionally, the separation of development and production functions was the control instrument to ensure this reliability. Then how can organizations manage the change management risk related to DevOps?
Objectives of this session are to assist the Internal Auditor with:
- Understanding the key characteristics and concepts of DevOps.
- Articulating relevant risk areas of DevOps integration and new control concepts to manage this risk.
- Increasing Internal Audit’s relevance to the organization by implementing “Next-Gen” audit approaches.
