3LoD update: Give your opinion

The Institute of Internal Auditors announced that it seeks public comment on an updated model of the Three Lines of Defense, a widely used concept designating essential roles and duties in governance, risk management and control.

The current model has the benefit of being simple, easy to communicate, and easy to understand. Despite its widespread acceptance, however, the existing Three Lines of Defense has been criticized as being too limiting and restrictive. After 20 years in use, it could be time to refresh the model to better reflect current practices and the ever-evolving global landscape.
