Survey IIA Global Governance Changes
The IIA’s Global Board of Directors proposes key changes to the current global governance structure. Members of The IIA’s global association have the opportunity to provide their opinion on the proposed changes.
While IIA membership has grown by more than 250 percent in the past 15 years, the existing governance structure does not ensure a consistently effective and relevant approach to quickly changing global developments. With this in consideration, the Board believes it is time to modify its governance structure to provide nimble and vigilant oversight of IIA activities and maximum value to the membership.
Key recommendations include:
- Establishment of a 17-member Board of Directors (reduced from the current 38 members) with expanded responsibilities.
- Elimination of the Executive Committee.
- Establishment of a 6-member Supervisory Committee with limited responsibilities.
- A Global Assembly (currently Global Council) with expanded responsibilities.
Member input will be considered by the Board, with a set of final recommendations submitted to the global membership for approval during The IIA’s Annual Business Meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in May 2018. If approved, the changes will go into effect in July 2019.
