Starter kit
With the starter kit, IIA Netherlands supports starting CAEs in setting up the Internal Audit Function (IAF) within an organization. IAFs arise not only within regulated environments but also within environments where less regulation applies. It is important that the IAF shows its added value to the organization, especially in the start-up phase, but also that important preconditions for a properly functioning IAF are adequately met.
Starting CAEs need support on the 'hard' or instrumental side as well as on the more 'soft' side. The starter kit gives substance to the support on the hard side and consists largely of a basic set of manuals, templates and other good practices that help the starting CAE to find its way in the new environment for him. In addition to this, the starting CAE can receive support from the IIA on the 'soft' side, for example through CAE Mentoring.

CAE Mentoring
Mentoring is a 'learning partnership' between an experienced mentor and a less experienced mentee. With mentoring, new CAEs learn from experienced colleagues. This creates a learning network, whereby existing knowledge is shared, new CAEs come to an accelerated learning process, and CAEs continue to learn from each other. Through mentoring, 'wisdom' can be acquired to cope with new forms of role patterns and performance of duties. The mentorship is filled in by an experienced CAE who is not in a business relationship with the mentee and who works outside the direct implementation scope of the mentee. Mentoring relationships are trust relationships between two people in which the learning process of the mentee is the central point.
